Java Applets for Pursuit and Evasion Games , Military Applications Session, ICTCM, Mar. 13, 2010.
Abstract: I will discuss a Java applet used to model various pursuit and evasion games. There are many applications of these games, including aircraft/missile scenarios, search and rescue operations, and robotics. The basic mathematical tools for these games include vector analysis and differential equations, making them a nice application for beginning students in mathematics. The applet is a highly visual, completely interactive way to see how certain vector equations translate into applicable algorithms. Users may easily switch between various algorithms and parameters to see various solutions to the multi-pursuer, multi-evader problems.
